Brenda Green

Founder & Executive Director, The B Strong Group

Brenda Green is a dedicated advocate, community leader, and the driving force behind The B Strong Group, a non-profit sickle cell advocacy and support organization based out of Columbia, South Carolina.

Brenda’s journey into advocacy began from a place of deep personal love, purpose, and a mother’s fierce resilience. The B Strong Group exists because of her beloved son, Braden, who was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Hemoglobin SC Disease. Navigating the daily complexities of Braden’s condition opened Brenda’s eyes to the critical lack of awareness and support available to families walking this path. Witnessing her son miss school days, holidays, and activities due to his condition—yet constantly pushing forward with an unwavering positive attitude and a smile—deeply moved Brenda and his father. Inspired by Braden’s incredible resilience and strength, they were driven to start the non-profit in his honor to give back to the community and advocate for other families.

Under Brenda’s visionary leadership, The B Strong Group has grown into a vital beacon of hope across South Carolina. Guided by the strength she sees in her son and countless other warriors, her work focuses on bridging the gap between clinical care and daily survival. She ensures that families and caregivers are equipped with essential education, emergency financial assistance, and robust advocacy. From organizing local awareness campaigns and health seminars to establishing crucial community support networks, Brenda has dedicated her life to turning awareness into measurable action.

A firm believer in the power of collaboration, Brenda actively empowers other local sickle cell warriors and caregivers to be a part of the organization’s mission. She continually partners with community initiatives to ensure the voices of South Carolina’s sickle cell community are heard at every major table.

When you meet Brenda, you immediately feel her warmth, her unwavering faith, and her fierce dedication to the cause. Through her leadership, she continues to honor her family’s journey and prove that while sickle cell is a heavy burden to carry, the community is always stronger together.
